Ahh sometimes it’s the little things that keep you up at night 😌🤣 Here are my top 5 horror stories as a freelance illustrator and artist:

1) Running out of storage on my laptop - this has happened a lot recently and there is nothing worse. Slow laptops and a full scratch disc so you can’t open photoshop 😩

2) Customers asking if my work is AI 🥲 or worse customers saying they’ve used AI instead of booking you for a project. It’s fine Janet! Just stomp on my heart a little bit more 💔

3) Setting up for a market and it starts raining!! ☔️ there’s nothing worse than being all set up and excited for the day and then the rain hits. Especially with paper goods getting damaged.

4) I’ve had to glue my paint brush back together 3 times now 😆 I have an unhealthy attachment to it

5) It takes me a day sometimes to submit to some of the larger projects I do and by that point I’m so invested and excited about the idea I’m writing about. Once you submit it, you can sometimes never hear back which is so crushing!

Although illustration has its horrors, I still wouldn’t change it for the world hehe! 💓

This is my petition to be your new favourite illustrator! Hi I’m Imogen 👋 a freelance artist and illustrator. All my designs are hand illustrated in my home studio and brought to live using hand sketches and digital illustration techniques (aka Procreate!). I look to the natural and botanical world for inspiration to create my designs as I often find I feel most at peace when outdoors 🍃
