Music Collaboration

Updated: Dec 21, 2020

After pervious research about John Bergers, Ways Of Seeing, I often try and reflect on my work and the senses/ experience the audience feels when they see my work. Because of this I wanted to make sure that my work conveyed an atmosphere of calm, joy and gratitude. In order to do this, I decided to reach out to a fellow student I know who makes music and works with music production and asked him to collaborate to form a song to match my intentions.

We worked back and forth for a week or so and he luckily had a song that was ready to go and worked well with my project. It is an upbeat and catchy song that matches the pace on my animation which was perfect. The song is 5 minutes long so that it is long enough that you can listen to match the length of how long it takes to view and read my page.

I developed the aesthetic of the music button by adding the illustration of some headphones to link it to my animation and the feelings of gratitude. I changed the colour to match the background and changed the type and icons to grey so it matches the aesthetics of the page. I also added the text below encouraging viewers to listen to the song however not forcing them and giving them the option.

This is what my introduction page first looked like. You can see how adapting the music button has made a big difference on the aesthetic of the page.
