Our Place, Our Art

At the start of 2025, I was commissioned by South Kesteven's District Council to work on the Our Place, Our Art Project funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Over the course of three months, I worked in collaboration with the community to design a mural for the town showcasing heritage, culture and town pride.

Alongside community workshops, I also worked with Stamford Town Council to uncover the history of Stamford. Looking around the town's archives allowed me to uncover hidden people and stories from across the town whilst also learning about important artefacts which were then included in the mural.

The final mural sits at Stamford's Recreation Ground with replicas also printed at Stamford Library and Art Centre. The final artwork shares the places, stories and history that makes Stamford so unique with an interactive QR code at the bottom allowing passersby to visit an interactive version of the artwork where they can explore and read into each icon in more detail.

At the end of this project I organised a community exhibition and launch event at St John's Church bringing together local artists, poets and photographers. This exhibition was a great success showcasing talent and creativity across the town.

The exhibition is now found up on display on the windows of Ironmonger Street as a permanent reminder of the artists and creativity of the town.
